The Eastern Ontario Health Unit recommends that all persons involved in preparing or handling food for the public complete the Food Handler Certification training. Volunteers for non-profit organizations who are involved in preparing and/or handling food for community events may be eligible to have the training fee subsidized in part.
To qualify to have the food handling training fee subsidized, volunteers must meet ALL of the following requirements:
They must live in the counties of SDG or Prescott-Russell
They must be volunteering for a non-profit organization that is in the counties of SDG or Prescott-Russell
They must not be receiving payment for preparing or handling the food
Please allow up to 2 weeks for the EOHU to process and verify your information. The Contact Person listed above must be reachable and verifiable by the EOHU. Additional information may be requested.
The EOHU reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse an application, modify eligibility criteria or to withdraw the food handler training fee subsidy.
